HBOT is an accepted
therapy in conditions that have reached the chronic and rehabilitation stage.
It is very beneficial for those conditions as a complementary therapy,
where hyperbaric oxygen can increase the effectiveness of an
individual's current therapy. HBOT
has shown significant treatment outcomes in conditions including Autism,
Multiple Sclerosis, Lyme disease, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, Cancer, Heart
Disease, Carbon Monoxide Poisoning, crush injuries, Decompression Sickness,
severe wound conditions, severe anemia, tissue damage from radiation, thermal
burns, bad circulation, Cerebral palsy, migraines, post-traumatic brain
injury, and Crohn's Disease as well as many other conditions.
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is used to treat a wide range of conditions, with new applications being researched on a continual basis. There are currently 13 conditions treatable with hyperbaric that are approved by the FDA in the US. However, there are numerous “off-label” uses for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, many of which are documented with scientific evidence that is stronger than that of the FDA approved conditions. Nearly all medical clinics, doctor’s offices, and hospitals use FDA-approved drugs and medical devices for “off-label” use on a consistent basis. FDA allows “off-label” use of approved medical devices that have scientific data supporting their use under the supervision of a licensed physician.
Medical Studies Utilizing Hyperbaric Therapy
Today, hyperbaric
oxygen therapy (HBOT) is recognized by physicians and insurance companies to
treat a whole host of conditions and the list keeps growing. More recently, it has been shown as an
extremely effective aid in improving the mentality and behavior of people
suffering "senility" caused by poor delivery of oxygenated blood to
the brain.
